Description
The Teton is an entry-level outdoor router by WiFiRanger. The outdoor router has 2.4GHz WiFi reception and broadcast but does not support 5.8GHz WiFi. The Teton has a maximum wireless range of 1mi (maximum range is only achievable in ideal conditions when connecting with clear line of sight and a powerful access point). The router has a 100Mbps LAN port for connecting to an indoor router or modem (Gigabit LAN on Denali and Everest). Additionally, you have the option to purchase an integrated LTE modem for the Teton. This modem allows you to connect to Cellular internet, sharing data with all computers and devices connected to the WiFiRanger Teton (requires data plan for Cellular internet – supported data plans shown here). The Teton is ideal for those with a mobile lifestyle who desire affordability and versatility.

RESULTS: Works perfectly. Use Teton “Shark fin” to generate camper rooftop hot spot. Router is optional, I am not using one at this time. Picks up about 33 neighborhood wifi’s. From slight elevation, Teton connects to “open” xFinity hot spot about 0.5 miles away through neighborhood trees, wires, rooftop clutter, etc. OPERATION (summary): 1-turn power on to the shark fin. 2-boot up Ranger software on smart phone or computer. 3-Contact Teton shark fin on roof via wifi. 4-See list of Wifi’s the that Teton sees. 5-Select the one you want. 6. Connect, using password if necessary, and you are on the air for your favorite internet activity. INSTALLATION: 1- determine position for shark fin on roof. 2-run both 12 volt power supply cable and ethernet cable (for possible future use if I buy the Teton’s router) down the refrigerator vent (take the vent cover off first) into the camper, using 1 inch “split wire cable tubing” and drilling holes here and there as necessary (take care). (At the top of the vent, I drilled little holes in from the side.)[Note: Long cable runs of both ethernet and power wires are “built in” to the shark fin and dangling when you take it out of the shipping box… no need to take anything apart — just deal with it.] 3. adjust wire run and length to desired “slack” and clean camper roof mounting location with water/soap, to suit. I used Dicor self-leveling sealant applied to the bottom of the shark fin, and also to the top of the roof, squeezed the two together, into mounting position, and then used four sheet metal screws (there are plenty of holes for a lot more) to secure the shark fin to my basically plywood roof, and finished by using a little more sealant on visible screw heads and placing a run of Eternabond sticky tape across the cable run from the shark fin to the top of refrigerator vent. 4. In my installation, I simply took the unused ethernet cable and coiled it out of sight at an interior location, for possible future use, and… 5. Connect power wire to toggle on off switch and then on to camper power converter 12 volt output. SUMMARY: Buy now! You’ll have no rubber duckies or masts to stick up into the blazing sun, wind, bad weather, and tree strikes, because they are riding along securely inside the shark fin. And… if I can hit an xFinity hot spot from across five different neighborhoods, you should have no problem at a campground or distant corner of a trailer or RV park.
