WiFiRanger Supports the Following Data Plans
LTE Data Plans
Officially Supported & Verified Data-only Plans
WiFiRanger supports data-only plans with AT&T for integrated WiFiRanger LTE modems.
Pricing Coming Soon
WiFiRanger is working to support data-only plans with Verizon for integrated WiFiRanger LTE modems.
Certification in Progress
WiFiRanger supports data-only plans with Millenicom (T-Mobile network) for integrated WiFiRanger LTE modems.
WiFiRanger cannot guarantee alternative LTE data plans will work with its integrated LTE modems. We recommend either using the above supported data plans with your WiFiRanger integrated LTE modem or considering USB LTE Tethering a supported USB modem or MiFi device with an indoor WiFiRanger router.
Integrated LTE Modems
Performance Differences by Modem Model
Category 4 Modem
|Downlink||Up to 150Mbps|
|Uplink||Up to 50Mbps|
|Bands||2 / 4 / 5 / 12 / 13 / 14 / 66 / 71|
WiFiRanger Category 4 modems provide entry-level LTE performance for select routers, including Poplar, Aspen, Teton, Denali, and Everest (optional).
Category 6 Modem
|Downlink||Up to 300Mbps|
|Uplink||Up to 50Mbps|
|Bands||2 / 4 / 5 / 7 / 12 / 13 / 25 / 26 / 29 / 30 / 66|
WiFiRanger Category 6 modems provide high-performance LTE for select routers, including Aspen, Denali, and Everest (optional). Performance increase in downlink speeds due to carrier-aggregation functionality and band support.
LTE Modem Considerations
There are advantages and disadvantages to almost every technology choice, and integrated LTE modems are no exception. For the sake of full disclosure, helping you make the best modem choice, we offer the below considerations:
Verizon Activation is Not Supported or Guaranteed on WiFiRanger Integrated LTE Modems
|Changes in carrier plans and different geographies pose challenges to customers trying to activate and use Verizon SIM cards within embedded WiFiRanger LTE modems. If customers seek to utilize Verizon as their data carrier of choice on WiFiRanger, then the official recommendation is to do so with a supported Verizon MiFi, smartphone, or aircard via USB tethering or WiFi for WAN. WiFiRanger is currently in the process of obtaining official support with Verizon, but cannot guarantee Verizon data plans will work on integrated WiFiRanger modems at this time.|
WiFiRanger is continuing to work through the Verizon approval process. Once completed, official support for Verizon data plans will be announced for nationwide acceptance and coverage of WiFiRanger integrated LTE modems on the Verizon network.
Category 4 Modem Compatible with T-Mobile / Millenicom Band 71
|The Category 4 modem supports Band 71 (600MHz) which T-Mobile / Millenicom use for some of their Extended Range 4G LTE network. If T-Mobile or Millenicom is your preferred carrier, then consider the Category 4 modem over the Category 6 modem due to this compatibility advantage (Category 6 modem does not support Band 71).|
Category 6 Modem Capable of Carrier-Aggregation
|The Category 6 modem supports carrier-aggregation which can increase the downlink speeds by up to double when compared to non-carrier-aggregated modems (such as the Category 4 modem). This makes the Category 6 modem ideal for those desiring maximal performance and who do not need Band 71 support for T-Mobile / Millenicom. |
Difficult to Upgrade Indoor Routers to LTE Modems After Original Purchase
|If unsure of whether to purchase an LTE modem for an indoor Converge router (Poplar or Aspen), consider that a modem cannot be purchased separately in the future. Instead, a new indoor router would need to be purchased with an LTE modem installed. This is not the case for outdoor Converge routers (Teton, Denali, Everest) which can have an integrated LTE modem purchased and installed at a later time. Suffice it to say that it is ideal to get an integrated LTE modem when initially purchasing an indoor Converge router if you have the inclination to have indoor LTE. |
