WiFiRanger to Debut Converge™ Innovative New Product Ecosystem at RVX

Convergence Of All Aspects Of Connectivity, Control, and Media User Experience.  WiFi, LTE, HDTV, AM/FM, GPS, AI & Voice Control.

March 4th, 2019 – Meridian, Idaho – WiFiRanger, the leader in Innovative RV connectivity & control solutions, today announced their next generation product line to debut at RVX including a complete new ecosystem of products encapsulating innovative improvements to Connectivity, Voice & App Control, and Media Access Simplification.

“The entire objective of the Converge™ product line has been to re-think standards the legacy RV industry has dealt with, and then envision what the user experience should be. Converge™ delivers this through a rooftop system, encapsulating multiple systems & minimizing footprint while converging WiFi, LTE, Radio, HDTV, and GPS into a single beautiful enclosure. The indoor products include our Private AI Universal Assistant, and the wall InfoCenter that simplifies RV connectivity and control for the owner. All products are equally controlled by voice, or via more traditional handheld device apps.”

Kelly Hogan
CEO & Visionary, WiFiRanger

The fin shaped outdoor base platform is designed to include WiFiRangers renowned long range WiFi, LTE & GPS solutions, with an optional AM/FM and high gain amplified omni HDTV antenna for OTA TV, as well as the new OptionDeck(™) OnPoint antenna rotator allowing long range HDTV directional head end antennas to be easily pointed. The indoor AI Universal Assistant product houses the powerful & private AI engine allowing voice control of all systems within the RV, in an ergonomic ceiling mounted package including beam forming LEDs with microphones, as well as a convenient LED ceiling light. The InfoCenter wall device replaces the legacy TV wall plate with a powerful Antenna/Cable switch box including amplifier DC injection, offering dual USB charge points, and a convenient handheld device holding bail. It may also include a touch screen enabled WiFiRanger, allowing more features and converting stand alone WiFiRanger outdoor units into the desired pack offering.

“An equally important consideration in the design of the ecosystem was to re-imagine the aesthetics of devices inside, and on the roof of the RV. It seemed to us that manufacturers and owners were limited to roof devices resembling buckets, boxes, or mushrooms, so we proved that function and beauty can co-exist in an aerodynamic and aesthetically pleasing fin shape, housing communication antennas and facilitating options for the future.” Continued Hogan.

Volume orders may be placed now for the product line and will begin shipping to key OE’s and aftermarket customers in July 2019.

WiFiRanger Announces Enhancements to SafeSurf™ VPN

Enhancing RV Device Security With Latest Firewall and Artificial Intelligence Tools

December 6th, 2018 – Meridian, Idaho – WiFiRanger, the leader in Innovative RV connectivity solutions, today announced upgrades to their renowned SafeSurf™ VPN system embedded in every WiFiRanger, improving security and safety of using transitory data services commonly used by the RV industry. The service will dramatically increase connectivity security by implementing Stateful Packet Inspection, Malware Interrogation, and introduce AI and Machine Learning Technologies to identify potential threats prior to the data being delivered to the customer.

“As an ISP, and an RV router company, we understand the constant and pervasive threat to users of the Internet. Inserting Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in the data delivery path is the best way to stay ahead of future threats. While other RV connectivity solutions are still struggling with security issues, our latest initiative is to build upon our already solid security infrastructure, improving our SafeSurf(™) users confidence that there is another level of inspection being done to protect their identity, data, and internal devices.”

Kelly Hogan
CEO & Visionary, WiFiRanger

The enhancement will be entirely provisioned at the WiFiRanger Data Center, located within their corporate headquarters in Meridian, Idaho, using some of the most robust and current hardware and AI tools. Users of SafeSurf(™) will automatically be routed through the interrogation system, and threats and compromise data will be stopped prior to being delivered to the in-field WiFiRanger, regardless of the connection type. A free and automatic upgrade to WiFiRangers will be provided as the service rolls out in volume to their 100,000+ customers.

“As we see RV customers installing more & more off-the-shelf IoT devices (e.g. “Smart” thermostats, pet feeders, doorbells, etc.) that lack firewalls and data inspection, we went to work ensuring data delivered to those devices stays encrypted and inspected for injections of malware that could compromise the customers devices and private network. Regardless of whether connected via WiFi, or LTE, all device connections need to be interrogated for veracity, due to the fact that zero-day future compromises can come from within the weakest device in a private network.” Continued Hogan.

The upgrades to the data center and service are underway, with external beta users beginning in Q1 of CY2019, and all current WiFIRanger customers using SafeSurf™ being routed through the new system as the AI models mature and are proven for reliability and consistency.

WiFiRanger products are envisioned, designed & assembled in Meridian Idaho. Information and ordering is available directly at WIFIRanger.com and direct inquiries can be eMailed to sales@wifiranger.com, or call 208-321-5544.

WiFiRanger Releases Upgrade to SkyPro AI & Sky4 AI Product Lines For Data Acquisition

Upgrades pave the pathway for improved AI services and integrations with telemetry data acquisition & positional tracking capabilities.

November 5th, 2018 – Meridian, Idaho – WiFiRanger, the leader in Innovative RV connectivity solutions, today announced upgrades to their popular SkyPro and Sky4 LTE enabled connectivity solutions for the RV industry with hardware features specifically included for telemetry based data acquisition and cloud storage. Both products have been upgraded to include a real-time GPS module option allowing precise positional and time based data that is automatically moved to the cloud for review by authorized users.

“As we increase the types of data that we are acquiring with our renown connectivity solutions, we found it important to combine that data with exact time, positional, heading, and velocity data that can make information obtained more meaningful to the parties or AI systems looking at it. Adding a GPS extends the capabilities of our product line to new areas by collecting and forwarding telemetry data to the cloud for review.

Kelly Hogan
CEO & Visionary, WiFiRanger

The collected data is stored in the WiFiRanger for secure delivery to the cloud when the unit is online through any connectivity method, or can be delivered realtime to the cloud if the units include a Category 1 or 4 LTE modem. Once in the cloud, with permission, the data is archived and made available to owners, OE’s, system manufacturers, etc. for a variety of uses including service analysis, positional tracking, and system performance under circumstance.

The exact position information can also be summoned while online by authorized applications seeking where the RV is located. This can be used for security, remote location, theft recovery, and other customer centric uses.

“Acquiring quality and quantitative data is critical to applying AI to the sets of data to improve the ownership experience of RVs. We are focused on developing the most comprehensive data pool about how RVs are used and the relevant data surrounding systems and components.” Continued Hogan.

SkyPro AI and Sky4 AI shipments are scheduled for key OE’s in Q4 2018 with volume deliveries scheduled for model change Q1 2019.

WiFiRanger Partners With Yak Power On First “HEY RANGER READY” Initiative

“HEY RANGER” Enables Voice Control & AI  of New Award Winning Power Switching System

September 24th, 2018 – Meridian, Idaho – WiFiRanger, the leader in Innovative RV solutions, today announced their first “Hey Ranger Ready” alignment with Yak Power’s innovative new switching system. The arrangement allows a drop in module to the versatile Eight Circuit Yak Power Digital Switching System that makes it entirely controllable via secure and private voice commands issued by the new WiFiRanger AI Universal Assistant.

“The Yak Power systems unique and flexible wireless architecture allowed us to quickly develop “skills” to engage all the switching components from our AI Universal Assistant, making its already simple use, even more convenient.”

Kelly Hogan
CEO & Visionary, WiFiRanger

The ‘Hey Ranger Ready’ initiative is an open based way of registering and sharing control protocols of new and legacy RV systems allowing owners of WiFiRanger AI Universal Assistant’s to summon control and status of their RV via voice. Based on the growing standards of skills and voice interpretation tools, WiFIRanger has began building a skills database and aligning the control mechanisms based around IP, Bluetooth, or proprietary hardware protocols, and making those skills available to WiFiRanger owners for installation upon their AI Universal Assistants.

For proprietary systems already in the field, WiFiRanger has began building hardware bridges that allow connection to the AI system via a custom hardware device that interprets and encodes the legacy information, passing it to and from the AI system for processing.

The open approach taken allows OE’s to select from the best system solutions on the market, and then request vendors to provide their control protocols to build skills that sync with the WIFIRanger, or, use one of the hardware bridges that WIFRanger has engineered to run each proprietary system solution.

“As an example of the power of our initiative, we built a hardware bridge to the legendary SeeLevel II tank management system, allowing any owner of these systems to summon tank status by simply asking. What a great way to give back to the RV industry than to voice enable 20 years of legacy equipment! We will work with any systems provider in helping them develop skills for their systems, and can also assist in designing hardware bridges to the proprietary hardware.” continued Hogan.

“Our goal has always been to make a simple, flexible, and price competitive switching system for the RV industry, and adding Voice Control and AI onto it really hits the mark in terms of innovating the industry. We’re happy to have the opportunity to be one of the first system vendors to adhere to the ‘Hey Ranger Ready’ standard and deliver the most value to our OE and end customers.”

WiFiRanger Innovates RV Industry With “Hey Ranger” AI Universal Assistant

Enabling Private, Secure Voice Control and Monitoring of New & Legacy Systems

Meridian, Idaho — Sept, 20th 2018 — WiFiRanger, the leader in Innovative RV solutions, today announced their next generation device for RV systems control and monitoring. The “Hey Ranger” AI Universal Assistant is an offline, artificial intelligence assistant with a custom vocabulary and skillset that allows voice control of nearly any kind of RV component or system (e.g. lights, awnings, slides, generators, pumps, battery life, etc). Systems manufacturers can build open based “skills” that allow the Hey Ranger AI Universal Assistant to manage and report system status for their unique RV component.

“After mastering the RV connectivity solution we turned our innovative technology team to the next major industry challenge: use voice control and AI to make complex technology in RVs… simple & hidden. Apps, wall panels, annunciators, tablets, and remote access are last decade news. The future is all about AI and voice control, so we built an open based system that meets the challenge.”

Kelly Hogan
CEO & Visionary, WiFiRanger

The Hey Ranger AI Universal Assistant is an accessory that works stand alone with WiFiRanger functionality or in conjunction with any generation of WiFiRanger. Owners can easily install skills through the WiFiRanger Control Panel for a variety of “Hey Ranger Ready” systems and immediately control those systems via voice. The system is entirely self contained which means it does not need the online cloud for processing voice or AI functions. This “localized” platform insures the privacy and security of an owner’s voice commands and does not require an internet connection to work. So if an RV owner is dry camping in the middle of nowhere he or she can roll over in bed and simply say, “Hey Ranger, start the generator.”

The open approach taken allows OE’s to select from the best system solutions on the market, and then request vendors to provide their control protocols to build skills that sync with the WIFIRanger, or, use one of the hardware bridges that WIFRanger has engineered to run each proprietary system solution. Moreover, the system allows OE’s to create custom brand vocabularies for the learning engine, so that unique features and areas in an RV can be summoned by the assistant.

“Listening to our nearly 100,000 direct customers and OE’s implementing new technology, we heard some consistent themes. Phone apps, inconsistent wall annunciators, and other clunky systems can make technology in the RV more of a burden than a convenience. Picking up your tablet… swiping to find the app… waiting for it to load… then figuring out which button to push just to turn on the water pump is, well, cumbersome. It’s much faster and more natural to simply say… ‘Hey Ranger, turn on the pump’ and let the AI figure out what switch is where, what vendor pump, and how to do it.”

Kelly Hogan
CEO & Visionary, WiFiRanger

WIFIRanger also facilitates complete owner security and privacy by allowing customers to record their own wakeup word for their RV or implement a dialogue verbal PIN prior to performing an action.

“If you want to call your RV Blaise Pascal, you can record your own wake up word, tuned to your voice, and say, Hey Blaise Pascal, how much water do I have… and the assistant will calculate and respond accordingly.” Hogan joked.

Adding to the convenience of the system, once the Hey Ranger AI Universal Assistant is online via the WiFiRanger, it can be summoned to temporarily act like an AlexaTM or OK GoogleTM device if the owner has accounts for those services, extending usage to those services as well.

WiFiRanger is already working with several systems manufacturers and will debut the prototype system at the Elkhart RV Open House on September 24th-28th. The prototype will include showcasing voice control of lights, awnings, pumps, fans, and monitoring of legacy tank systems through a custom hardware bridge.

Initial shipments are scheduled for key OE’s in Q1 2019 with volume deliveries scheduled for model change mid 2019, and skills developed for a variety of system components.

Industry Leaders Join WiFiRanger, Expands “Hey Ranger Ready” Initiative

Plans Enabling Voice Control & AI of More Sub-Systems by Q1 2019

September 26th, 2018 – Meridian, Idaho – WiFiRanger, the leader in Innovative RV solutions, today announced additional support and intentions for new bridges allowing voice and AI control and monitoring of industry leading solutions for the RV industry. The initiative will include support for devices from Xantrex, Firefly Integrations, Garnet SeeLevel, Silverleaf, Yak Power Systems, and KIB Systems.

“Our open design is allowing us to quickly build bridges to voice enable other devices that have traditionally not allowed this kind of functionality. We will work with these initial vendors to improve the value proposition to their customers with a seamless “Hey Ranger” capability built within the RV by Q1 of 2019.”
